Mille Lacs Health System is proud to recognize Jayme Westling, PharmD, BC-ADM, for achieving Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management. This certification reflects her dedication to enhancing diabetes care and improving patient outcomes. As a pharmacist, Jayme has always played a critical role in medication management and patient education. By pursuing advanced training in diabetes care, she has expanded her expertise to provide even more specialized support to those managing diabetes.
Earning the BC-ADM requires over 500 hours of clinical experience, advanced education, and passing a national board exam covering medication therapy, diabetes technology, patient education, and strategies to prevent complications. With this certification, Jayme is now even better equipped to support patients with diabetes, offering advanced guidance and treatment options tailored to individual needs. Her training allows her to optimize medication therapy, assist patients with continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, and provide individualized education to help patients feel confident in using these tools.
Diabetes is a complex condition, but with the right care and resources, patients can successfully manage their health. Mille Lacs Health System offers comprehensive diabetes education, including one-on-one sessions that help patients understand their diagnosis, medications, and lifestyle changes that can improve blood sugar control.
For those looking for ongoing education and a sense of community, Mille Lacs Health System hosts a Diabetes Support Group on the fourth Thursday of every month from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Key Contributor Conference Room on the Onamia campus, located just inside the main entrance. These meetings provide an opportunity for individuals to connect, share experiences, and learn from a variety of important diabetes topics. The next meeting on April 24th will discuss new diabetes treatment options.
Jayme’s achievement strengthens the already exceptional diabetes care at Mille Lacs Health System. Her unique background as a pharmacist with advanced diabetes training ensures that patients receive the highest level of expertise and support. Those living with diabetes are encouraged to take advantage of the resources available, whether through education, technology support, or the monthly support group.
