Mille Lacs Health System (MLHS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Ninham as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Ninham, who has been a part of MLHS for nearly 12 years, officially stepped into the role on March 10th after an extensive search process involving both internal and external candidates.
With nearly two decades of healthcare experience, Ninham has played a key role in MLHS’s financial operations, most recently serving as the Director of Revenue Cycle. Her background in billing, payer contracts, strategic financial planning, and revenue cycle management made her a standout candidate for the CFO position. In addition to her financial leadership, she has also served as MLHS’s HIPAA Security Officer and will now take on the Compliance Officer role, ensuring the organization continues to meet the highest regulatory standards.
Born and raised in Onamia, Ninham’s deep roots in the community add a personal passion to her professional leadership. A graduate of Onamia High School, she has long been involved in local activities, including volunteering for Onamia Days and youth sports. “It is truly an honor to step into the CFO role for an organization that has been my professional home for nearly 12 years,” said Ninham. “Having grown up in this community, it is a privilege to contribute to the continued success and growth of MLHS. I am excited for the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated team as we continue to serve and support our community.”
Ninham earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from The College of St. Scholastica and later pursued a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. Her tenure at MLHS has included multiple roles, including seven years as an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Analyst, two years as Health Information Manager, and three years as Director of Revenue Cycle. Throughout her career, she has led key initiatives such as implementing the clinic EMR system (athenaPractice), establishing the Meaningful Use program to improve digital healthcare services, coordinating COVID-19 vaccine clinics, centralizing scheduling, and streamlining prior authorization workflows to reduce unnecessary costs.
“Amy’s leadership, experience, and deep connection to the community make her an outstanding addition to our Senior Leadership Team,” said MLHS CEO Andy Knutson. “We are excited for the future under her financial guidance as we continue our mission of providing high-quality, accessible healthcare.”
With her experience and dedication, Ninham is set to help lead MLHS into a future of financial stability and to continue advancing our mission of exceptional healthcare for all who reside in and visit the Mille Lacs area.
