During the COVID-19 emergency Medicaid was automatically continued for everyone who had Medicaid coverage. No annual renewals were required. However, the Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 has ended and the states are now requiring recipients to renew their eligibility. It’s a very simple process and we urge you to do this as soon as you receive notification.
If they have your correct contact information they will be contacting you directly via mail. Please watch for a letter in the mail from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The outside of the envelope will be marked with a blue circle that says “Important Information Enclosed”. This is your renewal information. Be sure to check your mail regularly and watch for this letter and complete it immediately and return it to them to avoid any gaps in coverage.
A really good idea is to check with them to see that they have your correct contact information. Visit this website Renew my coverage / Minnesota Department of Human Services (mn.gov) and have your member number and case number handy. There is a section on the website to update your contact information - Don’t risk a gap in your health insurance / Minnesota Department of Human Services (mn.gov). This ensures they can contact you about your coverage and any changes. All current Medicaid patients must have completed the renewal by May of 2024, but since you may risk losing critical coverage if you’ve not renewed, we urge you to make this a high priority.
