Becky Fossand is Mille Lacs Health System’s new Vice President of Human Resources. With over 10 years of Human Resource experience, she has been the director of Human Resources at Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota in Bemidji, and director of Human Resources at Johanneson’s Inc., in Bemidji.
Fossand was drawn to MLHS because it is a small, independent hospital and not connected to corporate-run health systems. She said, “That is amazing to me because there is a much more personable feel and it leaves more room to be family and community-oriented.”
“Human Resources is really ‘people resources’,” Becky said. She went on to note that people are all different and that necessitates an individual approach coordinated with a team approach to connect the people with the organization in a meaningful way for both. The dual view of people and organization, both engaged and contributing to each other and the community, is “why this is my career,” she said. “I want to see people succeed in what they were born to do while contributing these talents to an organization that works to make a community better. Then everybody wins.”
Fossand has many plans for Mille Lacs Health System, with her first priority being leadership development. “We have a lot of great staff and leaders. I want to help everyone to accomplish their goals.”
