Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia has been recognized by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) for its commitment to patient safety. The facility has been participating in the three-year Partnership for Patients Hospital Engagement Network Initiative. MLHS was one of 115 Minnesota hospitals actively addressing conditions such as falls, infections, and readmissions, among other issues.

Lawrence Massa, President and CEO of the MHA, noted that reported data has been valuable to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, both at the local and statewide level. “MHA members collectively improved safety across the board by 37 percent, preventing 12,000 patients from harm, and saved over 90 million dollars,” Massa said.

The MHA presented a plaque to MLHS, acknowledging the “hard work and resources devoted by your hospital to keeping patients safe through the Partnership for Patients Initiative.”
