Mille Lacs Health System is proud to announce its fifth year in a row as a hospital that has garnered the Women’s Choice Award© for Best Emergency Care.

The methodology for America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care award is unique in that it combines Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences. The award recognizes excellence in emergency care based on several factors, including time to admission, time from admission to treatment area, and door to diagnosis time. Additionally, criteria for selecting Mille Lacs Health System as one of America’s best for emergency care also included the average time before patients with chest pain or a possible heart attack received an ECG. Awarded hospitals represent those with emergency departments having average measurements in the highest 25th to 50th percentile in the country.

Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award, notes that women make over 80% of healthcare decisions and want to be confident that they know which emergency departments in their communities “will take care of their loved ones quickly and with the best possible care.”

“The award is especially significant given that long waits can negatively impact patient outcomes,” said MLHS CEO Bill Nelson. “Our staff is committed to providing the kind of care our patients can count on and trust.”

MLHS is one of 320 award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standards for emergency care in the US by the Women’s Choice Award.

MLHS Emergency Department Director Jessica Walcheski said, “We are honored to receive the Women’s Choice Award for the Emergency Department five years in a row. The staff at MLHS work together to offer the best care to every patient, every time.”
