Looking for volunteer drivers

Mille Lacs Health System

People who live in the Mille Lacs area know that a reliable means of transportation can make a difference between having needs met or going without basic necessities. Immediate access to services like healthcare, pharmacy, groceries, work, community events, government services, and school is an important requirement in anybody’s life.

Transportation Resources For You (TRY) is a group of local officials, volunteers, and social concern activists who are interested in increasing transportation accessibility for area residents. Mille Lacs Health System is involved in the group. Their mission is to address the transportation needs in northern Kanabec and Mille Lacs Counties. Understanding that people need transportation to gain independence, access necessities and stay involved in their communities, the group is looking for volunteer drivers.

If you enjoy driving, helping others, and have some spare time, please consider making a difference in the lives of people who live in our area and apply as a volunteer driver. You can set your own schedule, decide where you want to drive to/don’t want to drive to, determine who you are most comfortable transporting, and how you will be contacted about potential rides. You may already make regular trips yourself somewhere and it’s possible you could decide to ride share with someone. There are lots of options.

Your help is important. If you would like to apply to be a volunteer, the group will provide all the paper work and a free background check. At this time, there is no remuneration for gas or a pay stipend. If you would like to help empower lives and give back to your community, this is a great way to do it. You must be 18 or older; have a valid MN driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, current insurance; and live in or around the service area. To apply, call 320-438-9331 or Email.
