Emergency/Urgent Care

When your care can't wait

The Emergency Department at Mille Lacs Health System is committed to giving you the highest quality of care when your health care necessitates immediate attention.

The Emergency Room, located at the Onamia main campus, is open 24/7 and is a designated Level IV Trauma center. That means if you have an emergency situation (you need immediate surgery, access to specialists or tests, or anything that can't be taken care of by our staff) you will be assessed, stabilized and transferred.

Our ambulance is available to transfer patients to appropriate facilities, and when necessary, we have an FAA-designated helipad providing immediate access for air transfer.
We offer:

  • Collaborative care with Central Minnesota Heart and Vascular Center for treatment of acute heart attack.
  • Collaborative care via telemedicine for immediate care regarding stroke.
  • The latest bedside and facility diagnostic technology.

For other non-emergency health situations, our expert Emergency Department staff can evaluate and treat many conditions and problems. Appointments can also be made with any of our Visiting Specialists.

Urgent Care is open daily from 8 to 8, in Onamia, offering another level of care for times when our Family Clinics are closed or don't have openings available.
Urgent Care provides treatment for common injuries and illnesses that are not life-threatening but should receive same-day treatment.

Ambulances are stationed in both Onamia and Isle, covering a service area of 700-sq. miles. Our ambulance service is licensed to provide both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support, with Paramedics providing care with our excellent staff of Emergency Medical Technicians.
