FREE Dental Care Clinic This Summer

Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation has extended their multi-year grant to Mille Lacs County which offers free dental care to residents who cannot afford it, who are on Medical Assistance programs, or who are uninsured. The $120,000 grant was awarded Mille Lacs County Community Health through June 30, 2024, allowing mobile dental clinics to be offered at multiple locations across the county in partnership with Mille Lacs Health System

A total of six clinics will be offered, the first scheduled for June 6, 2023 from 9:00am-4:00pm at Mille Lacs Health System Family Medicine Clinic in Milaca at 150 NW 10th Street. Another clinic is scheduled for June 22 at Mille Lacs Health System Family Medicine Clinic in Onamia at 200 North Elm Street. July clinics will be scheduled at the same locations on July 6 in Milaca and July 17 in Onamia.

The provider is Children’s Dental Services who is now accepting appointments for the June and July clinics. Other dates and locations will soon be announced by the county. Residents can check out www.millelacs.mn.gov and search for “free dental” for information.

Mille Lacs County has 34.1% of the population on Medicare or Medicaid and 7.2% have no insurance plans, underscoring the need for dental care programs, a key component of good health.

The mobile clinics offer standard hygiene services such as cleaning, filling cavities and x-rays but also do follow-up appointments for restorative work. There is no age restriction for patients, and one does not have to be a resident of Mille Lacs County to benefit from this program.
